Growing food from scraps!

Did you know that you can grow food from your leftover scraps? Well if you didn't know now you do. Its a very simple method that are team researched and experiemted with. Not many materials are even needed. For most just a small bowl with a little water and sunlight. A big space isn't necessary either, you could put it on your windowsill. There are also a wide variety of options you can choose from. Than an extra bonus is that you are helping the environment by reducing food waste, and your helping yourself by saving money on fruits and/or vegetables.

What can I grow from scraps?

wFor example, do you buy heads of lettuce from the grocrey store? If you do once your done using all the tasty green leaves all you have left is that bottom piece with no purpose that usually ends up in the trash, but wait don't throw it away just yet. That part of the lettuce left over can grow a whole new set of lettuce! Its not even that hard. All you have to do is put that leftover scrap of lettuce you don't eat in a bowl with a small amount of water, change the water every couple of days. Than put it in a place where the sun can shine on it so it will grow. If you have acess to you could also use grow lamps, but thats not necessary because whats better than natural sunlight? Adding on, you can do this for more foods than lettuce such as, celery, avocado, potatoes, pineapple, onions, even some spices, or just some regular plants.

Why should I do this?

Well not only does it help recude food waste that is going into our landfill it can save you money. Instead of having to pay for it from the store it can be locally grown in your kitchen. Another plus you might not have thought of is all these vegetables are packaged in plastic, so your also helping the environment by not using the plastic packaging.
